Small Business Spotlight: Curves
If you’re a woman and your New Year’s Resolution is to get in shape and lose weight, Curves in Carrollton can help. Curves is the world’s largest fitness franchise with nearly 10,000 locations, benefiting 4 million women. Franchise owner Sue Jordan has operated the fitness center at the Eagle Harbor Shopping Center since September of 2010 and has about 100 members ranging in age from 30 to 70. In just 30 minutes a day, three times a week, Jordan is helping build women stronger with the Curves Smart program. The program includes all five components of exercise – warm up and cool down, cardio, strength training and stretching and works every major muscle group. Regular physical activity, like the Curves program, reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke, colon cancer, Type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and high blood pressure. It helps control
weight, contributes to healthy bones, muscles and joints, helps relieve arthritis pain and reduces the symptoms of anxiety and depression. Did you know if you’re 65 or older, you may be eligible to participate in the Silver Sneakers wellness program at Curves for FREE? And, Jordan is especially excited about Curves Complete – a brand new 90-day online weight loss program launching in January 2012. Curves also offers Zumba classes with a certified instructor on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Follow Curves on Facebook or visit the website at www.curves.com
